About death

My good friend committed suicide on Sept the 3rd 2010. This will be the 3rd time death has affected my emotions.

I find it humorous,a catholic raised self proclaimed realist can still sub come to human emotion. I find myself turning to hope and divinity in these times of bereavement. When i looked at his body i saw a corpse. When i think of the past we shared i cry tears. I know the tears wont bring him back and i know the prayers i recited tonight will not be answered. But if there's a shred of hope I pray. Just this time I'll pray. It made me feel good . What's better then deceiving myself into a state of calm ?

Man blows himself up trying to kill a spider

Man blows himself up trying to kill a spider

A man suffered flash burns after he accidentally blew himself up trying to kill a spider.

The 28 year-old suffered severe burns after attacking the arachnid with an aerosol can at his home in Clacton in Essex.
The man was summoned by his wife to deal with a spider she had seen scuttling behind the lavatory on Bank Holiday Monday. Not being able to reach it, the man decided to kill it by spraying it with the can.

However he was unable to see whether it was dead because the bulb in the bathroom light had blown. At this point he turned to a cigarette lighter to illuminate the room, but in the process ignited the gas fumes and caused an explosion.
The blast was so strong it blew the man off his feet and lifted the loft door off its hinges.
He suffered flash burns to his head, legs and torso and was rushed by ambulance to hospital after dousing himself in cold water.
A spokesman for Essex Fire Service said: "It appears the wife had spotted the creepy crawly in the bathroom and asked her husband to capture it.
"He sprayed it first with an aerosol where it was lurking behind the toilet bowl and when that didn't appear to work, he lit up his lighter to spread some light on the situation as the bathroom bulb had blown.
"There was an almighty explosion which blew the man back into his hallway and lifted the hatch on the loft.
"He did exactly the right thing by jumping into the shower and cooling his burns with cold water while his wife raised the alarm."
Firefighters administered emergency first aid at the scene while waiting for ambulance teams to arrive.
A spokesman added: "We're not entirely sure whether the spider got away or not but there was no sign of it at the scene."
Ambulance crews treated the man for burns to his arms, legs and face and breathing difficulties and he was taken to the Colchester General Hospital, in Essex, where he was given pain relief and discharged in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
In June last year Simon Elsey, 40, from Rotherham, suffered severe burns after a can of hairspray exploded at his home. The canister had been left on top of a children's fireguard in front of a lit fire in the sitting room. The blast was so powerful it blew out two window panes and the can was found embedded in the ceiling. Mr Elsey had been asleep in the sitting room at the time and firefighters said he was lucky not to be engulfed in flames.

Fascinating Infographics about Death

10-foot gundam made from leftover model part trees

That’s exactly what these guys did with their leftover bits and pieces. It took over 250 man-hours to build the RG (Recycle Grade) RX-78-2 Gundam, which measures in at nearly 10-feet tall. Of course, it was built almost entirely from the spare plastic runners and part trees from smaller Gundam model kits.

Cop identified, suspended by NYPD for failing to help woman save daughter dying of asthma

The NYPD has suspended a cold-hearted Brooklyn cop who failed to help a woman as she frantically drove her dying daughter to a hospital, police said.
Police Officer Alfonso Mendez, 30, who is assigned to the 84th Precinct in downtown Brooklyn, had his gun and badge taken and will likely face a departmental charge for failing to take proper police action, cops said.
The stunning announcement - which vindicated the grieving mother of Briana Ojeda, 11 - was a quick and surprising turn of events.
Tuesday morning, as the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau hunted for the mystery officer whom Carmen Ojeda blamed for her daughter's death, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters not enough was known to determine if the man was an NYPD cop.
The probe suddenly came together within a few hours Tuesday afternoon - and Mendez, who was suspended without pay, later copped to having been the man in uniform who pulled over Ojeda in Cobble Hill Friday.
"It's a shame that it took four days for this officer to reveal himself. And it should never happen to any other child," said Briana's father, Michael Ojeda, as he and Carmen left their daughter's wake.
Briana, whose funeral is today, suffered an asthma attack while playing at a Carroll Gardens park.
Her mother called 911, but opted instead to drive Briana to Long Island College Hospital.
Mendez, who has been on theforce for five years and hadnot had a major disciplinary issue, stopped Ojeda after she turned the wrong way down a one-way street a few blocks from the hospital.
Ojeda, 35, of Boerum Hill, had insisted she was pulled over by an NYPD cop who acted surly and claimed not to know cardiopulmonary resuscitation - althoughall NYPD cops receive such training.
She said the officer followed her to the hospital, where Briana died about an hour after arrival.
NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said Internal Affairs Bureau investigators showed Ojeda and witnesses pictures of cops in the 76th Precinct, where the incident took place. No cop was identified as the culprit.
They next began reviewing gasoline purchases because cops from two neighboring commands routinely fuel up their vehicles at stations within the 76th Precinct.
Those records confirmed that following a court appearance, Mendez had stopped to fill up his vehicle before heading to the Brooklyn Bridge to relieve a cop at a fixed posting, Browne said. Mendez's NYPD photo was then placed in a photo array for witnesses, who fingered him.
Browne said that, under NYPD regulations, Mendez should have reported he stopped Ojeda and escorted her to the hospital.
